You reach a point where the name “Boulder Flat” is quite obvious. I found it interesting that one rock was sitting on another upright, almost like someone set a giant plaque or trophy on a shelf. It’s hard to get perspective from the photos, but the standing rock was around 6 or 7 feet tall.

As I continued to climb, I had earlier been walking on muddy ground, but now there was actually a bit of water to step over. It was quite shallow, but something different from my usual desert hikes.
