Installment Three - Beneath the Surface

We join our substitute commissioner, Mike, as the Three Tequila Musketeers are about to give him the lowdown on the league and any horrible, dark secrets. Since alcohol was a factor, it took a while to actually get to the point.

“So is this rookie, Moss, going to be any good? I thought he was drafted way too high. Who drafted him again?”

“It was me, dill hole. And you’re one to talk, taking Cunningham so early. I think Moss will surprise a lot of people and get 10 touchdowns this year. “

‘Whoa! Someone needs to put away the crack pipe.”

“Hey, that’s not funny. My cousin got his – “

“Yeah, we know. His arm blown off in a meth lab accident. You’ve told us.”

“So what was Crappie on tonight? He seemed pretty lucid.”

Mike smiled uncomfortably at the amount of laughter that last comment generated. After a brief, but awkward, silence, he had to ask something just to move things along.

“So what’s the deal with him? He works in the Service department?”

“He hasn’t worked here for six years, and that was part-time. Not sure what he does for income these days. That’s why it’s always cash upfront with him.”

“That would have been good to know”

“Let me guess. He forgot his wallet. Or was it lost?“

“Now my turn. The ATM was out of service and he was running late, right?”

“Or did he think he had money coming?”

This humorous-to-them exchange went on for quite while. Mike sensed a pattern.

Is this the deep dark secret, that Keith’s a bad debt?

If so, that’s not very deep or dark now, is it? More annoying than anything.

Isn’t this question format at the end of these segments getting a bit tired?
