The staff of RABEFL News, on strike all year after disputes with MXB Productions and RABEFL Industries, returned
for the final week of the regular season and pledged to work through the playoffs. ‘They’re still ripping us
off”, self-quoted the author, writing in the third person, “But we came back for the love of the sport. Plus,
the owners keep doing such dumb things that the pleasure of stinging them was hard to resist. “
With Fighting Sioux and Triple Threat already wrapping up their divisions, Lay Z Boy (7-6) trailed
Catholic...Posse (8-5) by a game going into the last week in the Lone Gunmen Division. They would not play each
other, but division also-rans, Buck Snort (5-8) and Whowawho (6-7). Lay Z Boy got the win they needed, 40-36,
and the Nuns lost to the surging Whos (Cleveland circa early 70s), 46-45. They each won one against the other
during the regular season and the division records were the same. It came down to points and the Nuns were up
23 for the season and got the crown. The win also put the Whos into the Championship Bracket and was some
vindication for the also-ran crack earlier in this paragraph.
The Playoff format this year is unchanged from last year. In the first week, the top 8 seeds start the
three-week Championship tourney for the Souper Bowl. There is a Third-Place game for some reason. The next
week, the losers from the first week and the bottom 4 seeds start the Consolation bracket, ending with the
coveted Toilet Bowl game week 17. Triple Threat and Fighting Sioux are the favorites coming in, but the
playoffs have proved to be unpredictable in the past. Bring it on.
