Less than 24 hours after the track had 400 entries competing in AMA Motocross, a much more relaxed type of event took place, the last round of the Motokazie Pit Bike Nationals. Despite much fewer big rigs, a short program, and the occasional costume-wearing rider, the racers up front were definitely taking this seriously. These bikes may be small, but the riders and the total price tags often are not. The big winners on this night were Nathan Rosso, Jake Fogelberg, and Troy Buske, all winning two classes. This was still, at its heart, a fun event, and by those standards, nearly every entrant succeeded completely.


Adam Gregory was probably wearing a costume during this race. 		This was the last of six rounds in the series and a few championships were still up for grabs. With the “bragging rights” nature of each event, it is likely that many riders were completely unaware of their place in the standings, but there were positions at stake nonetheless. There had been two previous rounds at Elko, using mostly the micro track, but this time, a large portion of the big track was used, making for a wider, but rougher, racing surface.

The first riders on the track were the 50cc Box Stock participants. Justin McLaughlin trailed class leader, Nick Graves, by a mere two points. Problems in the first moto saw McLaughlin finish sixth, while Graves ran off with the race win. McLaughlin won the second moto, but Graves was right behind him, taking the overall win and the coveted championship.

 
The next class to hit the track was the 50 Mod class. The finishing order for each moto was the same. Fogelberg lead home Shawn Kline, John Eggan, and McLaughlin. His overall win in the 0-90cc class was less dominant, but just as effective. With moto winners, Justin Rosso and Randall Bruegger both having problems in their other motos, the 2-2 score of Fogelberg easily gave him the overall victory.


Randal Bruegger jumping through the rythym section 		Nathan Rosso was able to get his two wins with a perfect scorecard. He won both motos of 50cc Open, but not without fights from Marty Fridgen. Justin Rosso completed the podium. In the Open 0-230cc class, the versatile Rosso lead Trent Hinrichs and Tim McLaughlin to the flag in each race.

Buske was also able win four motos. In the first 0-90cc moto, he felt some pressure from Kody Klemetson, but was able to stay out front. Overall, it was Buske, Klemetson, and a consistent Brian Gast. In the 0-125cc races, Buske lead Daniel McLaughlin to the flag in both motos, while a strong second moto landed Brandon Bartells the last spot on the podium.

A bit over three hours from when it started, it was all over. Some of the bikes were a bit worse for the wear, but everyone still had a smile on their face as the track racing ended and the bench racing began.
