Brett Ohland was in a class of his own at Elko motocross, sweeping 125cc A, 250cc A, and 16-24 A with apparent ease. The Prior Lake native showed the high speed, whipping-it style that propelled him into the night program of several AMA Supercross rounds. With mild temps and the forecasted showers never materializing, the 360 riders enjoyed excellent track and riding conditions, resulting in some entertaining races throughout the race order.

The formula for Ohland was simple and effective; get the holeshot and check out. The only moto he was not leading after the first lap was the first attempt at 125cc A, moto 1. That race was red flagged, Ohland got the holeshot on the restart, and the drama was gone for the lead in that race. Ohland holeshot the second moto and checked out. Kody Schatzen was the only rider able to keep him in sight either moto, finishing a strong second overall followed by Thomas Miller, Jesse Peterson, and Steve Lorr. The 16-24 A races had similar results, with Ohland way out front and Schatzen alone in second in both motos. They were followed overall by Steve Lorr, James Lorr, and John Franek. The first 250cc A moto was another Ohland runaway, but in the second race, Joe Mueller held off Ohland for a while on his way to a strong second overall over Miller, Peterson, and Jed O Connor.

The 85cc classes are always very competitive at this track and that proved to be the case again on this day. In the first 85cc 12-15 moto, Justin Regenscheid got the holeshot, but Cole Seaton passed him for the lead on the first lap. Regenscheid kept the pressure on, but Seaton took the win. In the second moto, Seaton took the holeshot and was leading, but a big mistake saw him almost hit the ground. He saved the crash, but Regenscheid was past and held on for the win. Shawn Kline and Bob Cripps kept the leaders in sight on their way to third and fourth overall. The 85cc 9-12 races saw the same riders out front. This time, Seaton holeshot and won both motos over Regenscheid. 85cc 7-11 winner Dan Greig was a solid third over Sam Milbrandt. In Supermini, Dustin Harguth won both motos with Seaton second both times out followed overall by Kline and Andrew Rutledge.

Ohland was the only rider to win three classes, but several riders won two. Chad Schmidt won 125cc B and 250cc B, Mike Anderson easily lead 30+ B and 40+ B, Patrick Young topped 250cc C and 16-24 C, Michael Janovsky won 30+ C and 40+ C, and Jeff Farnell looked good on his way to wins in 45+ A and 50+.
