The final round of the Minnesota Supercross Series was held at the Scott County Fairgrounds. After over twenty rounds, it had come down to the last race to decide many of the championships. With nearly 200 rider entered, most of the starting gates were quite full, adding more unpredictability and challenge to the riders still going after titles.

The youngest riders were in the two 50cc classes. Matt Tupy has already clinched the Oil Injected class, but the didn’t quite have the Chain class locked up. Second in the standings, Joey Grieg, did what he had to do and won the main event, but Tupy was a comfortable second, taking the championship.

The 65cc classes saw both titles decided a few rounds earlier. Sammy Quiring had a huge lead

in the 7-9 class and did not attend the race. Last year’s 7-9 champ, Blake Raskovich, had an insurmountable lead in the 10-11 class, but was looking for another win at Jordan. Unfortunately, problems would knock him back to second in the main, as Sean Castle won his first main event of the year.

The 85cc 7-11 class, like it has been most of the year, was all Danny Grieg. The defending champ has won nearly every race he entered, and tonight, he was way out front once again. In the 85cc 12-15 class, last year’s 65cc 10-11 class winner, Jake Struzyk, had already clinched the title coming into the night, but still ran a strong second to Cody Lackore in the main.

The 80-105cc Open class saw leaders, Grieg and Struzyk come into the night, adjusted for throw-aways, virtually tied. Grieg had been eating into Struzyk’s lead late in the season, and it was now down to one race. After a strong heat-race win, Grieg got out front early in the main and jetted away with the win and a second 2005 championship. Lackore was a strong second followed by Tyler Beebe and Struzyk.

used strong finishes late in the season to win the 125 C title over Pat Young. Strong rides all year, including another win tonight, allowed Young to win the 250 C crown over Wes Blankenship.

The B class titles had also been decided. In the 125 B main, Ryan Orres took the main event win, the battle if you will, over Justin King, but King won the war, adding this 2005 championship to the two that he won in 2004. This year’s 250 B champion, Jacob Karg, added another win to his collection in the 250 B main event. Problems saw him knocked back to fifth in a very competitive 15-29 main event, but he had already clinched that title as well.

The 30+ Vet class saw Anthony Lake win his first main event since June, but it was a bit too late, as a strong mid-season surge had already propelled Todd Lentz past Lake in the championship chase. In this first year for the Women’s class, Jessica Hansen was the inaugural champion over Stacey Gilday. Brett Ohland, as he has done nearly every race that he has appeared in, dominated the Pro main. He had long since clinched the championship over Eddie Gregory and Jeff Doyle.

In the Mini Quad class, Courtney Baune had already clinched the title, but rode to another win just for good measure. In the Quad Sport class, Jessie Baune added another championship to the family mantle, riding to a conservative fourth to clinch the title over main event winner, Brad Schmidt. In the Quad Pro class, Travis Palmquist rode to another win, on his way to that championship.

With another year in the books, plans are already underway for an even better 2006 season. It’s never too early to start honing your jumping skills. Cities Edge, Jackpot Junction Casino, Delano Sports Center, Leo's South, Answer/MSR, Scott and Bobcat provided support for this series all year long.
