The Minnesota Supercross circuit made its way to the Steele County Fairgrounds in the southern Minnesota town of Owatonna. With over 200 riders in seventeen classes, there was action on the track all night long. The biggest class of the evening was 125cc C and Logan Grimley used consistent starts and steady riding to come out on top in the main event.

In the first of two 125cc C heats, homeboy, Matt Pichner, lead all the way. Grimley had a sixth or seventh place start, but came through to second. Thomas Dieke held second for most of the race, but finished third. In the second heat, Jacob Warehime made his way to the front early and took off. Jeremiah Johnson was a strong second the entire race followed by Charlie Hickok. Unfortunately, a crash in another class, left Warehime unable to compete in the main.

In the main event, Pat Young lead early, but was overtaken by Grimley on the second lap. Pichner closed in on Grimley, but was unable to get around. Johnson came through the pack for the last spot on the podium.

This series saw five of the first seven races are at the semi-permanent track in Jordan, but then the Motokazie crew hits the road, with July and August containing the meat of the schedule. August saw an eight-race road trip, touring many of the county fairs in Minnesota and a few in Iowa and Wisconsin. Then it’s back to Jordan for the last race of the month, then the series finale at Jordan on September 16. Many riders are still in contention for the championships and the large number of riders that were not from the immediate area of this race reflected the commitment they have to the series.

There is a place for older riders too and that class is the Vet 30+ class. Fifteen riders were at the gate for the heat race. Todd Lentz, who can often be seen running up front in District 23 Vet A races, grabbed the lead from the start and pulled away. Dana Alexander held off Lance Tiegs the entire race to finish second. Jim Watts and Dan Vanhee diced for fourth, with Watts getting the position. Last years champion of the class, Bill Tilford, bailed on the first lap and was only able to make it to eighth.

In the main, Lentz again lead from the start. This time he had company as Tilford got away clean, stayed close to the end, but was unable to attempt a pass. B rider, Anthony Lake, who is

battling Lentz for the championship, settled into third early and stayed there. He was followed by Tiegs and an excellent dice for fifth that went to Watts.

Three riders were able to win two classes. Nick Jackson won 125cc B and 15-29, Dan Grieg easily topped 85cc 7-11 and Open 80-105cc, and Nick Schnagl took 50cc Chain and 65cc 7-9. Cities Edge, Jackpot Junction Casino, Delano Sports Center, Leo's South, Answer/MSR, Scott and Bobcat all provide support for this series.
