The Saturday Fall edition of the Cambridge TT saw over 120 entries put on an excellent show, as they competed against the heat and each other. Though many rode three classes, no one was able to win three, but six riders doubled up. In the Pro classes, Kevin Anderson and Jacob Mataya split main event wins, but several other rides were in the mix, making for many entertaining races.

The first Pro class to run was the 505 AA. After finishing third in the heat behind Joshua Koch and Anderson, Mataya came back to take the win in the Main over Koch, Anderson, and Chris Laubershiemer.

In the first heat of Open AA Pro, Mataya had the holeshot, but ran off the track in turn one, allowing Anderson to take a lead he would hold to the end. Laubershiemer came from mid-pack for a second over Verdeen Langland. In the Main, it was Anderson with the holeshot,

followed by Laubershiemer. Anderson pulled away a bit more each lap as Laubershiemer started feeling pressure from Langland. At the finish it was Anderson, with enough time for a victory wheelie, then Laubershiemer, and Mataya, nipping Langland at the flag for the last spot on the podium.
Temperatures felt more like July than September, but the canopy-endangering winds helped keep things bearable. Although the track looked the same as the last race at first glance, turn ones and two changed shape significantly. Whether more riders ran off turn one because of the changes was a point of some pit discussion, but all agreed that Don Boehlke had done another excellent job of prepping and maintaining the track surface.

Early out to the track was the 600cc Vintage class. Vintage in this case is referring to the

bikes, not the riders, although often times it is both. After taking a comfortable win in the heat, Craig Abresch and Jeff Ellison lead the way at the start of the Main. Abresch began to pull away from the field, leaving Ellison to hold off the growling pack behind him. Lee Ganske moved into second and was followed at the finish by Jeff Tucker, Michael Schmidt, and Ellison.
The youngest of the double winners was Matthew Elliot, who won the 50cc Oil and 50cc Chain classes. Elliot was also the District 23 points leader in both classes coming into the event. The points leader in his class, Cole Anderson, won the 65cc heat and main, handing Elliot his only losses of the day.

In the 85cc heat, Cale Langland, took a close win over Dustin Paul. That would be the last race Paul would not lead. After winning the 80cc Open heat, he rode to victory in the 85cc Main over Langland and Jordan Schleicher, then took the 80cc Open main.

Kevin Anderson’s second win was in the Mad Dog class. This class was added this year after seeing it used in the national Ice Speedway series round held in St Paul. The bikes are somewhere between a 50cc pit bike and a regular sized race bike. They are small enough that the bigger riders looked amusing large on them. Despite a large handicap at the start of the heat and main, Anderson and Mataya would quickly find their way to the front. Anderson won both times, but the races were interesting to watch and a crowd favorite.

The Beginner and Knobby classes were run separately and former road racing champion,

Jeff Johnson (of the former Edina Road Racing Johnson Brothers), came away with wins in both classes, sweeping both heats and mains.

Richard Washeck was the fastest of the vet riders, getting to the front early in the Vet 30+ and Senior 40+ mains and holding on to his leads.

Jim Bullis won both of the poorly attended Quad classes.
