Minnesota’s most famous out of state summer visitors, Mike and Jeff Alessi, made an appearance at Elko Motocross and immediately made their presence felt, running up front in every race they completed. Over 600 other entrants were also on hand for Round Seven of the Motokazie Elko-Mankato Dealer Series Championship.

Lately, the Alessi entourage has been spotted many times a week at the county fair races that are common this time of the year. This was their first race at Elko and the crowd was exited to see them ride. The first race was in the Schoolboy class, the only class where they would compete directly against each other. The top three were the same each moto. Mike ran out front with Jeff in second, followed by Matt Ahlers. Mike had bike problems in 125 A but came back to win the a deep 250cc A class over Brett Ohland, Montana’s Justin Deleware, Nate Broughton, and John Franek. Jeff competes in the B classes, winning both motos of 125 B and 250 B.

As in the previous round, this was the only race of the year that included quad classes and was also a round of the District 23 Quad Premier Series. Kyle Goldberg extended his lead in the 250 A class by winning the race. His 3-1 tally edged the 1-3 score of Jesse Tennis. They were followed overall by Paul Overocker (4-2) and Bob Lind (5-4). The Open A was a little more clear cut as Goldberg won both motos. He was followed overall by Overrocker, Tennis, Lind, and “dare we say the return of” Craig Cherrington.

No one was able to win three classes. The other riders to win two classes were Zach Shermer in 85cc 7-11 and 85cc 9-12, Jesse Kangas in 85cc 12-15 and Super-Mini, David Spizman in 30+ A and 40+A, Jeff Sandback in 30+ B and 40+ B, and Dustin Buesgens in Quad 250 B and Quad Open B. Hitching Post, Cities Edge, Leo’s South, Motoprimo, and Cannon Falls HYS, and Scott all provide support for this series.
