Former arenacross star Chad Pederson, showed up at Mankato and came
home with wins in the always tough 25+ A and 250 A classes. In Vet C,
Dan Kjeer shook off a recent blow to the head that left him
hospitalized two days earlier, to take his first win of the season.
Besides Pederson, the double class winners were Philip Neske in 65cc
10-11 and 85cc 7-11, John DeOtis in Youth and Super Mini, and Dave
Spizman in 250 B and 30+ B.
The Kato Cycle club had the track in excellent condition for practice.
As has been the case at most of the races this year, the weather
played a prominent role. Light rains in the early part of the race
schedule were not a problem, but as the rain came down harder, the
track turned into a quagmire. Despite the objections of the mud loving
minority, concern about people getting out of the pits lead to the
cancellation of the second set of motos. Of course, the rain then
pretty much stopped.
